About Flying Dalmatian Studio

Mike Allen, co-owner of Flying Dalmatian Studio, has a varied background in metalworking. He has a degree in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University, and taught metal working and welding at the high school level for several years.

As a hobby, he restores antique fire engines, and as a result, has had to manufacture obsolete part to complete his restorations.

Kari was the inspiration for Flying Dalmatian Studio

He pours his own aluminum casting, forges steel, welds, performs machine operations on the metal lathe, and does his own powder coat paint processes.

These skills, and a fondness for wildlife and art have culminated in the creation of Flying Dalmatian Studio.

His work has been featured on television and in the newspaper, and is found in homes and gardens throughout the United States.

Mike is a member of the Artist-Blacksmith's Association of North America, and the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association.
