Flying Dalmatian is a small studio in central Illinois that specializes in wildlife metal art, lodge furnishings and custom gate tops. We utilize the latest
in computer aided metal-cutting equipment in addition to using traditional
old time blacksmithing techniques. Most pieces are made of heavy, 1/8" thick steel to last a lifetime and can be painted in a clear brass or black baked on powdercoat finish. Other colors are available or the steel can be left unfinished to rust.
We also incorporate into our work unique woods from the West, such as juniper and mesquite from Texas, 200 year old grapevine root from California, saguaro cactus skeleton from Arizona and burl lodgepole pine from Wyoming. Animal antlers and horns can be incorporated into furniture and lighting fixtures. Light shades may be rawhide, mica or glass. Other items such as spurs, bits and even family heirlooms can be used to make your special piece of furniture or lighting fixture. We welcome inquires and commissions.
